Any brand who is any brand is shooting video campaigns these days. And can you blame them? We spend more time online browsing blogs and watching youtube videos than we do flipping through the pages of magazines (I have to set aside monthly “Barnes and Noble” days where I catch up on all of my favorite glossies.) As technology is advancing by the second, and “fashion videos” are going viral (see: P’Trique), it only makes sense for prominent fashion houses to create a video presence in addition to billboards and print advertisements.
Here’s McQueen’s latest Fall/Winter 2012 video campaign directed by David Simms, staring Suvi Koponen.
I absolutely love how Zeinabou from The Shoe Gawker styled this men’s dress shirt as a skirt. It reminds me of the 90s “tie the jacket around your waist” craze. Creative and very well put together! Check out her blog for more great outfits (her shoe collection is to die for!)

Style.com is about as close to the runway as I can get right now. Balmain’s Resort 2013 collection truly blew my mind. For this collection, Olivier Rousteing drew inspiration from spending time in Miami. He chose mint colors to stand against monochromatic black and white pieces to emulate that South Beach vibe. And the various printed pieces and chunky stripes…brilliant! I love the spin-off to the tradional form fitting suit – pairing long, boxy blazers with flowey trousers or mini dresses.
September’s Style Crush is the beautiful bi-racial Brit, Alexa Chung. Why? Because Ms. Chung can make a simple ratty band t-shirt look better than an Oscar de la Renta gown. Former model turned TV personality, Chung’s quirky outfits and mousy brown hair have given her “It Girl” status in the world of fashion. She’s well known for pairing $5 thrifted shorts with $50 TopShop cardigans and $5000 Chanel bags.

I’ve been saying this since probably June 1st, but my feelings haven’t changed a bit: I seriously cannot wait for fall. The thought of patterned tights under tweed shorts with oxford pumps makes me warmer than a cup of hot cocoa. I can’t wait to retire my gladiators for the year (it’s been a good run, guys) and break out the lace-up booties.
In my opinion, fall is the best season for fashion because it’s all about layering. And by layering, I absolutely do not mean layering a North Face over a cami and Uggs over ankle socks. It’s more like blazers over the perfect cotton tank. So what do you need in your closet for this fall, and what should you avoid at all costs?
God knows I love a good trench, but the cape is the epitome of effortless chic. You can throw it over just about anything (leggings, jeans, skirt, shorts), which makes it perfect. The key is to find one that hits about mid-thigh so it’s still fun and flirty, yet romantic – too long may drown you out and too short might create a larger hip. If you chose to invest in this piece, I suggest sticking with camel, a color that’s timeless and matches with pretty much everything.
